About On Location Tours | The World's Largest TV and Movie Tour Company

On Georgette Blau | Owner and President, On Location ToursLocation Tours, Inc. (formerly Scene on TV Tours), New York City’s only TV and Movie Tour Company, was founded in June of 1999 by Georgette Blau, a 1996 graduate of Skidmore College. Blau founded the company shortly after her "move on up" to the Upper East Side of Manhattan (into a not-so-deluxe apartment), where she discovered that she lived near the Jeffersons. Blau began running New York’s first TV and Movie locations tour out of a rented van. And the rest, as they say, is history.

From the original New York TV and Movie Sites Tour (that now includes over 40 sites from TV shows and movies such as Friends, Ugly Betty, Ghostbusters, and Seinfeld), On Location Tours has expanded to include the famous Sex and the City Hotspots Tour, The Sopranos Sites Tour, a Central Park Movie Sites Walking Tour, and a new Gossip Girl Sites Tour. The company has even expanded south to Washington, D.C., to include a DC TV and Movie Sites Tour. On Location Tours recently added a Classics New York TV and Movie Tour that includes sites from TV shows and movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Taxi Driver. The company continuously updates its tours with current films and filming sites, and now even offers tours in several languages! The tours cater to public audiences, as well as student groups, senior groups, incentive outings, corporate excursions, and more. For a different way to see the Big Apple, take one of our NYC tours!

Mission Statement

The aim of On Location Tours is to allow people the opportunity to straddle fiction and reality, letting them feel as though they are part of the TV show or movie, ultimately bringing them closer to the characters themselves. We have become one of New York City’s most unique attractions, offering a new and exciting way to see the most filmed city in the world with our distinctive New York sightseeing tours. With On Location Tours, you’ll go behind the scenes of your favorite shows and movies – we give a whole new meaning to the term “site seeing!” Our tour guides are local actors and actresses who have appeared on TV and movie sets in New York and Washington, DC.

If you film it, they will come

Since launching On Location Tours in 1999, Georgette Blau founded ATTAM, the Association for TV and Movie Tours, the only association in existence dedicated to the rapidly growing sector of TV and movie tourism. Studies have shown that locations that have been used in TV shows and movies experience a surge in tourism after a film’s release. More and more companies are starting film tours to capitalize on this phenomenon. ATTAM provides focused representation to companies around the world that run film tours.

The film tourism has grown to such an extent that there have been conferences around the world on the subject, taking place in France, Italy, Germany, Japan, and at the Motion Picture Association of America’s biannual The Business of Show Business conference. Georgette Blau is considered an expert on the subject of film tourism and has been a speaker at all of these conferences.
