On the New York TV and Movie Tour and Central Park TV and Movie Sites Tour, you’ll get to see memorable spots that were featured in the 1999 movie Big Daddy, along with sites from many other well-known films and television shows.
In Big Daddy, Sonny Koufax, played by Adam Sandler, graduated from law school years ago but chose not to take the bar exam. Instead he works as a toll booth collector and spends his day loafing around. Eventually, his girlfriend decides that she has had enough and leaves him. Shortly after Sonny's roommate Kevin leaves for China, a boy is dropped at their place and Sonny is told that he is Kevin's son. However, confused Kevin says he doesn't even know the child’s mother. Sonny decides to take care of Julian, played by identical twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Initially, it is a part of his plan to impress and win back his girlfriend. But over time, Sonny begins to love the boy who changes his perspective on life, and he decides to fight for custody.
When you take On Location Tours’ Central Park TV and Movie Sites Tour, you will see the Central Park Mall where Sonny (Adam Sandler) and Kevin (Jon Stewart) take a walk and where Sonny imparts some fatherhood advice on his best friend. The Central Park Mall was the only “formal” area created by the Central Park designers Vaux and Olmstead. They envisioned it as a wide promenade where people of all classes can take a stroll and see a series of beautiful statues. It is the only straight path in Central Park and is lined with English Oak trees to keep pedestrians cool from the sun’s rays. Also in the park, you’ll visit Cherry Hill, where Sonny uses little Julian to score a date. Cherry Hill gets its name from the cherry trees that ring the hill.
On the New York TV and Movie Sites Tour, visit another park, Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, where Julian tells Sonny he wants to change his name... to Frankenstein!
Leading man Adam Sandler, born in Brooklyn, New York, found he was a natural comedian at the age of 17 when he spontaneously took the stage at a comedy club in Boston. He has starred in numerous films such as Punch Drunk Love, The Water Boy, The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Coneheads, Airheads, Bulletproof, Little Nicky, The Animal, Mr. Deeds, Eight Crazy Nights, Anger Management, 50 First Dates, Spanglish, The Longest Yard, Deuce Bigalow, Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and Bedtime Stories. Sandler was also on the famous comedy skit show, Saturday Night Live from 1990-1995, appearing on 88 episodes. In the 80’s, he also appeared on The Cosby Show, as Theo Huxtable's friend, Smitty.
Teenage twins Cole and Dylan Sprouse are most known for their roles on Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, a popular children’s comedy about identical twins living at the Tipton Hotel with their single mother who is a lounge singer at the hotel.
