Filming Locations from Charlie Wilson's War | Washington DC TV and Movie Sites Tour | DC Sightseeing | DC Tour busIn Charlie Wilson’s War (2007), Tom Hanks plays a Texas congressman nicknamed “Good-Time Charlie,” who is known for his antics and womanizing ways.  In this true story, Charlie Wilson learns about the people are suffering in the brutal Soviet occupation of Afghanistan from friend and romantic interest Joanne Herring (played by Julia Roberts), a Houston socialite and political activist.
