Filming Locations from Men in Black | New York TV and Movie Tours | NYC Bus Tours, Sightseeing in Manhattan, NYIt makes perfect sense that the fast-moving and suspenseful film Men in Black has several scenes filmed in action-packed Manhattan. In fact, the New York TV and Movie Sites Tour bus travels through the many different areas where Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent Jay (Will Smith) fought the extraterrestrial aliens who wanted to blow up the earth. The popular Oscar-winning movie was originally based on the comic book series, ‘The Men in Black’ by Lowell Cunningham. Men in Black was such a success that the sequel, Men in Black II, was created in 2002.

Need some help getting those monsters out from under your bed? The MIB Agency detects and monitors any alien action located on Earth. Agents Kay and Jay police the city in black suits with black sunglasses, earning the name Men in Black. As you travel through Manhattan on our guided tour bus, you will see exactly why New York is a city worth protecting and saving.

Chelsea and Soho

On the New York TV and Movie Sites Tour you will pass by the famous Empire Diner (Tenth Avenue and 22nd Street in Chelsea), a classic and popular façade that has appeared in several commercials, films, and ads. In Men in Black II, Will Smith eats here with the Laura Vasquez (Rosario Dawson), whose life he saved from the aliens.  Grab a bite to eat and sit in the seat where the hero sat and enjoyed a meal.

Stop in to the Famous Ben’s Pizza of SoHo, located on Spring Street, where Laura Vasquez (Rosario Dawson) sees her boss get killed by aliens and Will Smith comes to the rescue.  You will get a chance to try real a slice of real New York pizza when the New York TV and Movie Sites tour stops off at Famous Ben’s to see this important location from Men In Black II.

Have you ever wondered where the MIB headquarters was located? Situated between Greenwich and Washington Streets, in Battery Place, sits the famous building that both actors walk into in several scenes. It is no wonder why this is the building where all the top secret investigation takes place. It even looks secretive from outside!

Here, on Promenade near Castle Clinton, the bench where Kay explained to Jay the fundamentals of what exactly becoming an MIB would entail. Jay remained on the bench throughout the night, deciding exactly what to do, and if he wanted to accept the highly dangerous job.

The Upper East Side

Known to be one of the most impressive and magnificent museums in all of New York, the Guggenheim Museum is also featured in this film. In Men in Black Will Smith chased an alien disguised as a human through the spiraled gallery. Yet, he was a little too late; he was soon to find out the alien jumped right off the top of the museum onto 5th Avenue. When visiting, make sure to check out the exhibits here.  They are truly remarkable!

Can’t get enough? Check out other locations outside of Manhattan

If you want to take a look outside Manhattan for some Men in Black movie scenes, don’t forget to check out the Queens Midtown Tunnel. How can anyone forget the intense and thrilling scene where the agents Jay and Kay chased the extraterrestrial aliens in their 1987 Ford LTD’s. However, unfortunately for you, you won’t be able to soar over the cars in traffic with a flying car!

Flushing Meadow Park is the second largest public park in New York City. It hosted the famous scene where Jay and Kay shoot at the extraterrestrial aliens who are attempting to take over the planet.  The towers of the New York State pavilion are also visible from Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Luckily for earth, Jay and Kay do not let the flying saucers that hover over Shea Stadium and Flushing Meadow park crash into the Unisphere.

The New York TV & Movie Tour doesn’t visit Queens on the guided tour, but this borough is just a quick subway ride away!
